Project Description

Skeptan Typeface

Skeptan is my first foray into making fonts from scratch—I wanted to create an inky set of letters that read like a neater version of my handwriting.

Armed with the tiniest paintbrush I could find, I spent an afternoon meticulously copying letters onto index cards until I had enough versions I liked.

The digital part was more difficult— after scanning and cleaning the images with Photoshop, I individually imported and traced each character into Fontographer to piece together the font file.

Although it was repetitive work, I enjoyed creating this typeface and will undoubtedly develop more in the future.
